Ray Mathias, born on December 13, 1946, is an English football coach and former player. He is best known for his career with Tranmere Rovers, where he played between 1964 and 1985. Mathias holds the record for the most appearances for Tranmere Rovers, having played 637 games for the club. After retiring as a player, he went on to manage Wigan Athletic for three years. Additionally, Mathias also had a managerial stint at Tranmere Rovers from 2001 to 2003. The Gold Lounge at Tranmere Rovers was renamed The Ray Mathias Lounge in honor of his contributions to the club.
